Canyoning
El Salto and El Laberinto
Season: All year long.
El Salto [The Jump] is one of the easiest canyons
in the Santiago Sierra. Some of the best views of the mountain range
are available here. We will find this canyon dry most of the time,
but every now and there an impressive waterfall awaits us.
El Salto canyon is perfect for those who wish to
start in the sport of canyoneering, of for those who look for a
moderate adventure with friends and family. Here we will find some
spectacular formations that water has carved during hundreds of
years in the limestone. The trip has 2 rappels and, in some seasons,
it has water flowing and creates an impressive waterfall.

3A - 2 rappels. Challenges: The rappels are impresive. Location: La
Cienega, Sierra de Santiago.
El Salto and El Laberinto
Season: All year long.
 El
Laberinto [The Labyrinth] canyon was just recently discovered but is
one of our favorites. It is an easy trip with lots of beautiful
formations and some technical parts.
El Laberinto canyon is a mix of rappel and zip line with the beauty
of nature. Here we find 3 easy rappels and a small lake that we
cross with a guided rappel on a zip line. This is a soft adventure
for the entire family.
FYI: Rating:
3B - 2 to 4 rappels. Challenges: To go down the canyon without
getting wet. Location: La Cienega, Sierra de Santiago.

canyoning is what you need. Because of the variety of its
scenery, as well as the physical and mental skill required,
Matacanes stands out as one of the favorite and most scenic
canyons in the world, according to the American Canyoneering
Association. The canyoning experience take place in a small
village called Potrero Redondo (Colt's Round Corral) in the
Santiago sierras, near to Monterrey city.
